2012 ProGRT 1: Port Angeles, WA

Port Angeles was awesome fun in wet terrain.  Sean and I took a couple days off work and flew in with the bike all packed up.  Sean put them back together again in the hotel room at the Super 8.  The Super 8 even had a bike wash out front and a free breakfast that was adequate.

Once the bikes were ready, and we had a good rest overnight, we headed out to the amazing dirt that Port Angeles had to offer.  Every bit of riding was fun!

Sean captured this photo of Amber coming down a muddy chute with some raingear on.

Amber looking for the corner.

Amber attempted to capture Sean coming around this corner on his course, which was different from Amber's course for the weekend.  Clearly, Amber needs practice on taking action shots, so they come out a bit less blurry!

Sean heading through the woods in his awesome orange waterproof jacket.

Amber riding through the amazing crowds on her race run.

Amber on a practice run.

Amber on a qualifying run.

Some of the best racers in the world did some fast cornering.

More beautiful body position coming over some roots.  Ahhh...if only it were as easy as they make it look!

Sean and I didn't have any major crashes this weekend, but some other racers weren't so lucky.

The trees were tall, and the crowds were super enthusiastic about local favorites.

Amber having an exciting time riding between the tape.

The crowds were super enthusiastic, preparing for the race runs of Gwin and Kintner by hanging an American flag and a unicorn pinata.

Spring Vacation in Moab

Amber attempting "Birds of Paradise" yoga position on a rest during Mag7 trail.

Bishop is ready to shuttle some Lazyman DH

Bishop is SO tired after shuttling some Lazyman DH.

Amber posing for another rim shot.

Sean enjoying a corner after the "snotch" part of Porcupine.

Sean dealing with the seat dropper that doesn't want to work.

Sean stealing Amber's quick release off of her seat post, so he can easily manually drop his seat.  Amber tends to leave her seat post alone more on the XC bike.

Sean coming out in the open towards the end of Porcupine before the river view.

Some Chile Drops exit to the side.

...And down the front before the last ridge.

Always a fun time!

Heil Ranch, Boulder, CO

Sean going up and around some uphill terrain at Heil Ranch.  This was much more fun on the downhill on the way back, but one must sometimes pedal up in order to go down.

Amber looking through yet another corner.

Ice Climbing Attempt - Rollinsville, Colorado

 Train heading towards the tunnel.

Bishop sprinting in the parking area.  Notice, we can see the ground right there below the snow

Train headed into Moffat Tunnel.  Notice the trees with no snow on them, the mountains not fully white, and the brown weeds poking up from the ground...not much snow and ice just yet.

Quite a bit of green, and not a ton of white around the place.

We passed the first ice climb that had literally zero ice on it, and this is Amber hiking into the woods towards the north facing ice climb.

Sean and Moab walking on ice and snow above a tiny creek, hopeful still that ice climbing will happen.  Alas, it was not to be...someone was on the north facing ice climb already, and Moab decided she was done hiking uphill...we ended up with a nice snowshoe experience for about two hours...

It's Winter!

It's been a bit snowy recently (10 inches outside our front door, snow shoveling for two hours...that kind of thing), which the dogs have been thrilled with.  Sean and I have decided to join in the fun, so we packed our gear for snowshoeing and ice climbing...Unfortunately, wind gusts up to 111mph today thwarted us from going out today.  Oh well, at least we're ready for next time :)

The back of the FJ all ready to go!

Moab going after Bishop in good fun.

Bishop jumping on Moab in good fun.
